Ian Update- 4/10/25
Ian had a routine follow up appointment with neurology today.
Currently, Ian is stable, but that wasn’t the case for the previous 2 months.
Ian was having what is known as “breakthrough absence seizures.” He was seizure free for about a year, when all of a sudden, he began experiencing staring spells consistent with what his seizures tend to look like.
This is normal for kids like Ian- as they grow, they need to have medication adjustments to grow with them. However, it did take a couple tries to get the increased dose of seizure medicine high enough to stop the seizures from happening.
Ian is stable now, and neurology gave us the okay for our upcoming trip to Disney, thank goodness! He provided us with a new script for his rescue seizure medicine, as well as a backup plan to provide us with an additional seizure medication, should he have breakthrough seizures at Disney, to make our trip as easy as possible.
We gave Ian the day off from school today after his appointment, so we had a pretty chill Thursday to play with our toys and snuggle on the couch.
Despite these things that come up with his medical complexities, I find so much joy in our everyday life. Watching him take a toy screwdriver and pretending to fix our wall or when he grabs a pillow and blanket and just lays on the floor instead of the couch, these small moments are never taken for granted. We are so blessed.
